We are delighted that you are considering holding your Christening or Baptism at All Saints'. However during the Covid-19 Pandemic, our church buildings are locked and no services are being planned. We look forward to when life can return to normal and baptisms can be celebrated once more! In the meantime, the following explains our usual practice....
During a Christening your child will be baptised, its the first step in an amazing journey with God, parents, godparents, friends, family and the church. You don't have to have been christened yourself, or be a regular church goer.
To get things started, please contact the benefice office on 01935 826113 or email on [email protected] You will be given an application form and asked to choose a suitable date for your baptism service together with a date for a Baptism Preparation morning and a family service at your preferred church. Please return the form to the Benefice Office as soon as possible. The names of your selected godparents or sponsors can be added later if not known immediately.
The baptism preparation course which normally lasts less than an hour, is run regularly in the benefice and is an opportunity to think about baptism and make sure it’s the right option for you. It’s a chance to think about what baptism means, learn more about the service and think about other aspects of church life. We strongly encourage godparents to come if at all possible, as theirs is an important role in the baptism and life of your child. Of course, we do understand that this may not be possible if they live out of the area. In 2020 we are offering the following dates starting at 12.30pm in All Saints' Church, Martock (you need to come to one of these at least a month before the baptism):
18th January, 21st March, 18th April, 20th June, 18th July, 19th September, 17th October, 21st November
At All Saints' we offer a baptism during a morning Service beginning at 09.30am. For dates for baptisms this year please contact the Benefice Office.
