St Matthew's, Wookey

Welcome to our page on A Church Near You!

St Matthew's Church is a beautiful church in the village of Wookey, near Wells. We are part of a group of 3 churches and 4 parishes, known as a benefice, which are looked after by Revd Jan Shellard-James.

There is a weekly Holy Communion service which is held every Wednesday. 

On the 1st Sunday of the month, there is a Holy Communion without hymns, known as Quiet Holy Communion. 

On the 2nd Sunday of the month, there is an informal morning worship with hymns, which is called Inspire.

On the 3rd Sunday of the month, we all join together to worship, and the location of services is rotated between the three churches in the benefice. 

On the 4th Sunday of the month there is Holy Communion.

If there's a 5th Sunday in a month, this is also a joint service, and rotated between the three churches in the benefice.
