Church of England Diocese of Blackburn Burnley (Habergham Eaves) St. Matthew the Apostle with Holy Trinity

About Us

St Matthew The Apostle with Holy Trinity is an inclusive Anglican Parish Church which strives to welcome all. We seek to offer the best we can of traditional and more modern worship. We are probably best described as a ‘Liberal High Church'.

We welcome people of all ages to any of our regular weekly communion services.

At the moment, due to pandemic restrictions, the church is preparing to re-open on Sunday 14th March (Mothering Sunday) with Covid-19 restrictions in place.

You can find more updates about our worship, events and activities on this website. We have our own Facebook group, where you are invited to join in with any prayers, services or social activities, taking place online or in person.

Please see the 'news' section for more information to find out what is happening, ways to be involved and stay in touch. Due the pandemic, there have been a lot of changes to how we can worship together.

On a 'normal' Sunday,  there is a play area in the church which is well equipped with toys, books and games for very small children. On the first and third Sundays of the month, there are activities aimed at families - a slightly more informal all-age service on the first Sunday and Sunday School on the third. Anyone who is a full member of any denomination may make their communion with us.

St Matthew's plays an active part in parish life, hosting social events as well as special services such as Remembrance Day, Christmas events and various fetes, etc. There are also excellent links between the church and the local primary schools, uniformed organisations, local businesses and other churches and organisations across Burnley.

There is always help available, should you need it. The foodbank at St Matthew's church is jointly run with Church on the Street and is open every Saturday 9am-11am alongside a weekly free breakfast club. Please get in touch if we can be of any assistance.

We look forward to meeting you whether as a ‘one off’ or more regularly.
