Church of England Diocese of Blackburn Burnley (Habergham Eaves) St. Matthew the Apostle with Holy Trinity

Children and Families

We welcome people of all ages to any of our regular services and for very small members there is a play area in church which is well equipped with toys, books and games. (Sadly, this is not currently in use due to restrictions but we will set it back up as soon as we are allowed!)

During these unusual times, we have uploaded some videos to help families do #faithathome by doing activities together.
These can be found on our YouTube channel, in the 'Make or Bake' playlist! (One of the videos is embedded in this page!) There are also assemblies and our Family Services which you may enjoy watching as a family.

During holidays, there are packs of activities which are being distributed around the parish. Please let us know if you would like to receive these for your children or grandchildren.

St Matthew’s church has large uniformed organisations for both boys and girls. Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows all meet in our church hall and welcome enquiries about joining. On the first Sunday of the month our uniformed organisation usually attend our 10.30am All Age Service in uniform and process in the flags of their groups.
On the third Sunday of the month there are Sunday School activities for children of primary school age.

The Parish School, Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School ( has strong links with the church through regular assemblies and a service in church at least once a term. We also have a good relationship with other local schools and nurseries and always welcome ideas for new initiatives.

The Vicar and clergy of St Matthew's church are very happy to conduct Baptisms for babies, children and adults. For more information on Baptisms please see the 'Baptisms and Weddings' tab or the St Matthew's website.
