Church of England Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich Syleham: St Margaret

MESSY CHURCH

Messy Church is for families of all the parishes in the Hoxne Benefice and is normally held on the first Sunday of every month in the Village Hall in Syleham (IP21 4LT) with good facilities and parking.  All are most welcome but, although we follow safeguarding guidelines,  children must bring an adult.

We currently cater for Pre-school and KS1/KS2 children and would love to extend to older children - when we have the resources to do so. Please contact us if this would be of interest.

The session starts at 4pm and there are imaginative craft activities with story, song and prayers - all based around a Bible theme.  There are plenty of opportunities for families to chat - and we always finish with  a 'scrummy' tea  for all at around 5-5.15pm!

During Covid-19

As we were unable to meet as usual, Messy Church moved to Facebook, with a presentation video available from 2pm on the first Sunday of the month. Simple craft and prayer ideas were shared, based on a Bible story and packs of materials were delivered to a good number of families.

Post-pandemic

We have had two very successful outdoor meetings (a  bug hunting/bug hotel building session in Syleham Churchyard, and a sports session on J's Meadow, both with a picnic tea.)

From 5th September, we plan to return to the Village Hall and the start time of 4pm.  All most welcome.
