Our Annual Meeting 17th May 2026

St George's annual meeting was held on 17th May 2026 with Rev'd Paul our Rural Dean in the chair. Reports of our activity during 2025 including on our finances and the maintenance of our buildings were presented (see below)

Rev'd Paul paid tribute to all who had contributed during a difficult year following the departure of Rev'd Caroline and there being no churchwardens. Throughout it all we maintained weekly services and the Hub continued to be a place of kindness full of christian love. This was testament to the spirit in the parish.

There were no nominations for a churchwarden so St George's remains without one with the Rural Dean fulfiling all legal responsibilities during the vacany. Mary Hagell, Gary Orgovanyi, Jane Ambrose and Jim McAuslan were elected onto the PCC and Alan Martin was elected as a Deanery Synod representative. Graham Brown was appointed as our auditor.

Recognising the challenges faced by our parish the Diocese has 'allocated'  Maria Sadler to St George's as she finishes her curacy at Bosham church.  As Rev'd Paul explained to the APCM Maria had a choice as her curacy ended - remain in Bosham, return to her sponsoring parish or strike out on something new. Through discernment and prayer she chose us - so it is not just been a Diocese decision, its a choice she has made.

Maria's first service with us will be in 21st June and we hope as many as possible will attend. This will not be the full induction service that would herald the arrival of a new incumbent; but it is an opportunity to mark the occasion, the choice she has made to commit her time and energies to Donnington in this non-stipendiary role and to thank God for sending her to us.
