St Mary's Parish Church is a friendly family of Christians journeying through life and seeking to show God’s love by loving our world and loving our wonderful community of West Moors.
As the Vicar of St Mary’s, I am blessed to be supported by the ministry of Revd Ruth Wells, Revd Lynne Morris, and Revd Alan Butler, together with a team of Churchwardens and Lay Pastoral Assistants. You can find out more about our team on the Ministry Team page.
We are an active, inclusive and welcoming community who seek to share the love of God with all who we meet. Within the pages of our website you will find information about the various services and events that are taking place in the life of our church and the wider community of West Moors. All are welcome, from the very young to the very young at heart.
The worship at St Marys' is reverent but relaxed as we meet to experience the presence of God in fellowship, prayer and music. Many of the services include Holy Communion where, as the bread and wine are consecrated and shared, we believe the real presence of Christ is amongst us. The services are intended to be just as welcoming and comfortable for those who have been to church many times as those who have never experienced worship before. What you can be assured of, is a warm welcome as we all meet in the love of God. On a Sunday we have a more reflective Prayer Book Holy Communion at 8am and then at 10am the Parish Eucharist with a fun Sunday school (Cosmics) for young people. On the Fourth Sunday of the month we have a Family Service where the young and old share in leading the worship. The 10am service is always followed by refreshments in our church hall.
Daily Prayer is integral to the life of our church and on Monday to Thursday there is Morning Prayer at 9am and Evening (Silent) Prayer at 5pm. If you need some space at the end of the day, Silent Prayer is a wonderful way to find some peace in God's presence.
On Wednesday mornings we have a relaxed and gentle Communion service at 10am in the church hall followed by coffee and cake.
The St Mary's Parent and Toddler group (Bells and Biscuits) meets on a Tuesday from 10.00am-noon with playtime, crafts, songs and snacks. All are very welcome to come along and if you would like more information please contact me.
We have a wide variety of other services and social events. The Pew Sheet is a great way of finding out what is happening on a weekly basis. If you would like to have the Pew Sheet emailed directly to you on a weekly basis please contact me. If you have any queries about any aspect of church life or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone on 01202 893197 or by email: [email protected]
Wherever you are on your journey through life, you are very welcome at St Mary’s and we look forward to meeting you very soon.
