Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

Your local Parish Church is there for you for all the important times of your life, and all other times too. Below you will find information on Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. Please do not hesitate to be in touch with the Revd Michael Eaton on 07761948763 or email [email protected]

Baptism and Confirmation

Baptism (Christening) is a wonderful experience where you are welcomed into the church and receive the promises of God’s love. It is a very special service which begins an amazing journey of faith.

As a next step on our journey of faith from Baptism we regularly run Confirmation classes in preparation for a service of Confirmation either at St. Mary’s or at the Cathedral.

Weddings

Your wedding day is the most amazing day and we would love you to make those public commitments to each other in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s Church. To make your weddings vows in church is a wonderful celebration full of fun, meaning and love.  We have prepared some information on weddings in church which can be downloaded below.

In times of loss

In life there are times of joy and times of sorrow. At St Mary’s we are here to offer you support and prayers in the difficult times of losing a loved one. We conduct funerals in the church, at local crematoria or at the graveside; and these are normally arranged through our local Funeral Directors. We also hold an annual Service of Remembrance near All Souls Day (early November) to which friends and family are invited to remember before God those we love but see no longer.

If you have been bereaved and would like to talk to a member of the clergy or our Breavement Co-ordinator please do get in touch.

Fees

There are no fees for Baptisms. The fees for Weddings and Funerals are set nationally by the Church of England and we are always here to advise you on this.
