The clergy have recently been discussing various ways in which prayer can grow at St Matthew’s and are committing themselves to a number of teaching sessions throughout the autumn.
If you’re curious about how to go deeper in your prayer, or would simply like to know how to respond to the various encouragements to prayer given in sermons and weekly notices, why not give these sessions a go. Each will last around an hour and a half and are designed to be accessible and enjoyable.
‘Pray Your Way’
Tuesdays 6th, 13th and 20th October at 2.00pm
Thursdays 8th, 15th and 22nd October at 7.30pm (directly after Parish Prayers)
‘Pilgrims of Prayer’
Tuesdays 17th and 24th November and 1st December at 2.00pm
Thursdays 19th and 26th November and 3rd December at 7.30pm (directly after Parish Prayers)
Each session will be based around a distinctive approach to prayer and will include some teaching and the opportunity to try a particular type of prayer. We’ll be looking at how our personality shapes our prayer, praying with pictures, the rosary, meditative prayer, using the imagination in prayer, silence, music, praying for justice and peace, creation praying and many other aspects of the Christian church’s rich and varied inheritance of prayer.
Meetings are scheduled to take place at Mother Enid’s flat. To help our planning and preparation, and to avoid unnecessary printing, please let us know if you intend to come to these sessions.
