The independent Chair of the local board just happens to be the Rector of Newton Heath, the Reverend Andrew Wickens, potential conflicts of interest duly declared.

Funding Structure
  • Long-Term Investment: Up to 250 areas receive up to £20 million each over 10 years for long-term local improvements.
  • Impact Fund: A separate £150 million Pride in Place Impact Fund allocates £1.5 million each to 95 communities over two years (2025–2027) for immediate, visible neighbourhood upgrades. [1, 2, 3]
Governance & Delivery
  • Neighbourhood Boards: Each selected area forms a local board comprising residents, business owners, community groups, faith leaders, local councillors, and the constituency MP, led by an independent Chair. [1, 2, 3]
  • Community-Led Plans: Boards develop a 10-year vision and investment strategy, choosing from pre-approved interventions or local priorities without requiring heavy ongoing Westminster approval. [1, 2, 3]
