Church of England Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich Claydon and Barham

This is a congregation of families with children that meets on the first Sunday of every month apart from August. We meet on the first Sunday of the month at 4.30pm. The usual pattern is a 40 minute period of crafts in the Church hall before moving to the adjacent Church for a short, lively 20 minutes of worship and then returning to the hall for a sit down meal and fellowship. The aim is that we finish by 6pm so that families can get home to put younger people to bed. However many tend to stay on chatting and making new friends. In July this congregation and the morning congregations come together for a barbecue on the grass behind the Church which is always hugely popular. A bouncy castle tends to keep the youngsters happy. This started off as a Claydon and Barham project run four times a year but since 2019 is has been a benefice-organised outreach with helpers drawn from all three Churches.

Obviously with catering and crafts we need to have a reasonable idea of numbers expected s attendees are encouraged to email [email protected] with numbers and ant dietary requirements

During the pandemic these monthly get togethers have sadly had to cease but we continue to send weekly emails to families who have registered with us. Attached to the emails is the weekly Young Church Magazine produced by the Bath and Wells Diocese. We are also (from February 2021) trying to have Zoom sessions with crafts completed in advance.
