During the pandemic these monthly get togethers sadly had to cease but, following on from our very successful Family Barbecue in September, we restarted on 5th December 2021 with a theme of Advent and then every first Sunday in the months ahead apart from January 2022 when we plan to meet on 9th rather than 2nd to avoid family New Year celebrations.
This is a congregation of families with children from across the Benefice that meets on the first Sunday of every month apart from August. We start at 4.30pm and the usual pattern is a 40 minute period of crafts in the Church hall before moving to the adjacent Church for a short, lively 20 minutes of worship and then returning to the hall for a sit down meal and fellowship. The aim is that we finish by 6pm so that families can get home to put younger people to bed. However many tend to stay on chatting and making new friends. In July this congregation and the morning congregations come together for a barbecue on the grass behind the Church which is always hugely popular. A bouncy castle tends to keep the youngsters happy. This started off as a Claydon and Barham project run four times a year but since 2019 is has been a benefice-organised outreach with helpers drawn from all three Churches.
Obviously with catering and crafts we need to have a reasonable idea of numbers expected s attendees are encouraged to email [email protected] with numbers and any dietary requirements.
Those who register will receive an email each weekend with the Young Church Magazine attached. An example of this is attached for your information
