Church of England Diocese of Newcastle Longframlington with Brinkburn

News from the Diocese - October 2021

On this page we post the monthly Link newspaper and Prayer Diary from the Diocese of Newcastle, together with any items of particular local interest to the parish.  The October edition of Link may be DOWNLOADED HERE, while the Prayer Diary for October may be downloaded here.

News this month includes the following:

- Newcastle Cathedral has now officially reopened and some space is given to pictures and a description of what has been done and, most importantly, how the improvements will enable the cathedral to fulfil its role more effectively.  As you would expect, services have returned to a more normal pattern, with many of the services also available online, either streamed or as recordings.  For more detail see the cathedral website or download the weekly list of online and in-person cathedral services from this page

- Bishop Christine talks more about her retirement plans and of her nomination as a Freeman of the City of Newcastle.  She retires at the the end of November

- There are pictures and a report of the installation of several senior members of the diocese team in the Cathedral on 5th September. They have some splendid vestments!

It includes comprehensive Notes and News, the Prayer Diary, and a hyperlink to download the latest edition of Link.  This page enables you to download the current edition of the ebulletin or to subscribe to receive it monthly by email

This web page does not normally expand on items in the Prayer Diary, but there are two things of note this month,  First, October is the month when the whole Diocese prays for Alnwick Deanery, including on the 21st our own parish of Longframlington with Brinkburn.  Secondly, it includes a special plea for prayer from Bishop Metlha of Botswana about the difficulties caused by COVID.  He asks only for prayer, but we hope his words will also elicit a practical response from the Diocese and its parishes

Note that in general the new edition of Link is available a few days before the end-of-month publication of Notes and News and the Prayer Diary
