Great Totham: St Peter's

Welcome to St Peter’s Church

Our Parish church is a beautiful Grade II* listed building that dates back to the 13th century. It lies in the heart of rural Essex overlooking the River Blackwater estuary. It provides a special place for community worship and a tranquil haven of peace in our busy world. We are part of the Blackwater Benefice and are currently in a period of vacancy as we look for a new Priest-in-Charge.

Our clergy are Revd Andrew Vince (Lead Associate Minister), Revd Sue Godsmark (Associate Priest) and Revd Sarah Clare (Associate Priest)

Please contact Lizzie Armour, our Benefice Administrator, for all general enquiries:

VACANCY/HELP REQUIRED

On Sunday 28th April St Peter’s Church will be holding the Annual Meeting at which time we look at life of the Church and look forward to the next year by electing Churchwarden(s) as the current holders have to step down at this meeting. The Churchwarden role is supported by the Parochial Church Council which meets around 6 times per year. The Congregation is looking for people who attend the Church to put themselves forward for nomination to the role of Churchwarden as well as to be a member of the PCC. However, we are also looking for any people willing to assist with the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and keeping the Church building and surrounds in good order. Any assistance would be gratefully received – there is no need for volunteers in these roles to be attendees at St Peter’s. If you feel that you would like to be involved with helping keep our beautiful Church and Churchyard viable then please contact Karen Tarpey ([email protected]), who will be happy to explain what is involved.

Safeguarding

Our parish of St Peter's Great Totham is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and each Parish has its own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact the PSO, Jean Grant (details below). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.

Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Jean Grant: [email protected]
