Graveyard Maintenance

“Please help us by taking all your rubbish home for disposal”

Great Totham Parish is justly proud of the 12th century village church in its rural churchyard setting. Many volunteers work hard to ensure that it is maintained as an amenity for the whole community.

Rubbish & Recycling – Green waste recycling bins beside the shed are specifically for green waste only. The black bin is for landfill waste only (eg oasis foam which cannot be recycled).

Glass bottles, plastic, cans, paper and cardboard should be taken home for recycling; there is no provision at the church for this recycling.

While there are bins for litter around the churchyard it is requested that, where possible, you take away your own for recycling / disposal.

On the public footpath out to the field leading to South Wood is a red bin for dog waste.

Graveyard – the existing graves have now been brought into compliance with The Churchyard Handbook (available at the church or online). Permitted is one flower vase on or close to the headstone or beside an iron cross. Special occasions are excepted but for a few days only (it cannot be guaranteed that these items will be left for any length of time). Apart from the flower vases the churchyard will be managed by the church.
